Teen Therapy (for parents)
Adolescence can be a time of enormous and sometimes confusing changes. Your young person may feel like they’re exploding with new energies that are exciting, but at time hard to understand. You may feel that what was once clear between the two of you now is lost, cluttered or chaotic. During adolescence young people may not always know how to use their energies, or perhaps may have too little energy.
Let’s you and I collaborate in exploring your concerns, ones that may help bring your teenager back into synch with you and themselves.
Friends may have taken on real importance in your adolescent’s life, sometimes eclipsing the influence you used to have with them. Or they may feel that there’s no one there for them, but that they can’t turn to you.
This is the time when having someone outside of the family who has integrity, and whom your young person feels they can trust and confide in is so important. This is a time when finding the right therapist can make all the difference.
Therapy can be expensive, and takes time. You want to entrust your young person to someone who has compassion, experience and wisdom. Please share with me what for you are the most vital areas of interest. During successful therapy, changes in behavior and attitude are a natural byproduct of the work that your teen and I do together.
I encourage you to take advantage of my free 30-minute appointment to talk to me, and to develop a sense of my way of getting your adolescent to thrive and prosper. You can call me at 510-540-0813 or email me at ninashilling@msn.com.
